Personal Stories

Stories & experiences of Workfare

  1. a friend is on MWA with them
  2. I would like to mention my first placement at Conren UK. I was here as a trainee export assistant officially, but I was being used as free labour to research business leads for the company as their profits were down at the time I was there. I even voluntarily went to Runcorn to attend a business networking meeting on their behalf in order to try to generate sales of their products, however I was still not offered a job due to "UK sales being down". I asked my placement provider at Steps to move me somewhere else where I might have a better chance of being offered a job, only to be sent to the Wales Air Ambulance charity shop in Wrexham which I already informed you of a while ago. Luckily, I am now working but I feel so strongly about the way I was treated that I have decided to report them. I also feel extremely sorry for and angry about those people who are still out of work and who are being exploited like I was by companies like Conren, that I am taking an active interest in the Boycott Workfare campaign.
  3. Although this was some time ago i felt it was necessary to Name and Shame them.
