Personal Stories

Stories & experiences of Workfare

  1. I thought I would contact you about this company as it solely relies on forced unpaid workers. There are roughly 3-4 paid workers compared to 10-12 unpaid forced workers. If the unpaid workers were to strike , surely the business would not be able to operate. Apart from that the conditions in which people have to work in are unbearable, there's no Personal protective equipment available for the people that work with paints for example (hazardous materials). There is electric cables running through puddles of water inside the factory's cleaning section/area, the whole complex is like a junkyard with literally everything throw everywhere, it is literally a disaster waiting to happen. This surely is not a place worthy of work experience from the DWP. No one from health and safety could of been to this place in ages, because if they did visit I know they would have no option but to close this place. I myself have been working here for 2 weeks and set to finish in another 2 weeks. I am really hoping this company gets cleaned up and starts to employ paid workers come April when the MWA expires.
