Personal Stories

Stories & experiences of Workfare

  1. Referred to DBC Training in Derby. Told nothing from the Jobcentre, informed provider would answer all questions. Provider could not answer questions, expect you to spend 30 hours a week job searching in their office until placement is sourced. Logging timesheet, performing skills tests etc etc. Conscientiously objected to workfare as a concept. DBC were understanding, now raising a doubt so will wait to see what happens. But DBC contracted by Acorn Training, Subcontracted from G4S. Staff could not tell me if it was payment on results, or proper contract. Once withdrew consent for data sharing, that was it. They did say that I 'must' sign their forms, but when pushed if I was 'legally' obliged, backed down. Think everybody involved with this needs to be named and shamed
